Hot Fudge Pudding Cake

For the cake:

3/4 cup sugar

1 cup flour

1/4 cup cocoa

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup milk

1/3 cup melted butter

1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract


For the topping:

1/2 cup sugar

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup cocoa

1 1/4 cups hot water


Whipped cream (optional)


1. Heat oven to 350˚F.

2. Combine sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt. Add milk, melted butter and vanilla extract.

3. Mix until blended.

4. Pour batter into greased 13 by 9 inch pan.

5. Stir together topping ingredients: sugar, brown sugar, cocoa.

6. Pour evenly over batter.

7. Pour hot water evenly over the top. DO NOT STIR.

8. Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until center is almost set.

9. Remove from oven.

10. Let stand 15 minutes.

11. Serve in dessert dishes pouring sauce from bottom over the top.

12. Garnish with whipped cream (optional).
